UPDATE 29/03/17: The 2017 Splendour In The Grass lineup has finally been unveiled!
ORIGINAL STORY: We’re less than 48 hours out from the 2017 Splendour In The Grass lineup making landfall, and if you’re anything like us you’ve probably slapped together a wish list in your head, ranking the artists you’d most like to see attack the Byron Bay stage this July.
Until this Wednesday, 29th March , the shape of Splendour’s 2017 bill remains shrouded in mystery. However, we’ve managed to ferret out some info about a bunch of big name acts to assess their likelihood of featuring on this year’s roster.
Interestingly enough, most of the acts on the (likely fake) ‘leaked’ lineup poster that has emerged online are actually free around Splendour time, so it’ll be interesting to see how close the probable phoney comes to the soon-to-be-unveiled legit version.
Only time will tell. In the meantime, gaze into our crystal ball below to see whether you will win the lottery your fave acts could be in with a shot of heading to Splendour this year.

Lorde: LIKELY
With her long-awaited album 'Melodrama' on the way, a promise to visit Aussie fans "sooner than people think" and a Splendour-sized hole in her touring itinerary, the Kiwi alt-pop phenom is a shoe-in for this year's lineup.
Gorillaz: LIKELY
After announcing their long-awaited new album 'Humanz' last week, Damon Albarn's toon punk act are gearing up to "tour and do festivals", with no dates currently announced for this year's Splendour weekend.
LCD Soundsystem: LIKELY
After allegedly cancelling a planned Australian tour before it was even announced last year, the newly reformed US act currently have no competing dates booked in for the Splendour weekend, and are playing a stone's throw away from us at Japan's Fuji Rock fest the weekend after.
The Weeknd: UNLIKELY
He's headlining the inaugural Lollapalooza: Paris on the same weekend as Splendour, soz.
Radiohead: LIKELY
Thom Yorke and co. are in full touring mode following the release of 'A Moon Shaped Pool' and currently have a Splendour-shaped hole in their touring itinerary. Coincidence?
Red Hot Chili Peppers: UNLIKELY
They're also booked to play Lolla Paris on the Splendour weekend, unfortunately.
The xx: LIKELY
The xx are another act who'll be visiting our Pacific Ocean neighbours Japan for Fuji Rock just one weekend after Splendour, with no other tour dates locked in that could clash with the Aussie festival. Here's hoping!
Lana Del Rey: UNLIKELY
The retro pop crooner is pre-occupied at Lollapalooza Paris too.
Queens Of The Stone Age: LIKELY
QOTSA have been announced on Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival lineup, which traditionally shares a number of acts in common with SITG, and so far Josh Homme and co. don't have any other dates which could interfere with a potential Splendour appearance. Fingers crossed!
Skepta: UNLIKELY
After cancelling his 2016 Australian tour dates due to unexpected personal reasons, the UK grime-rapper will be keen to make it up to Aussie fans, but sadly we'll likely have to wait til later down the track, as he's tied up with Lollapalooza Paris.
BANKS: LIKELY
We haven't seen BANKS since Laneway 2015, and with a new album out, it's the perfect time for another visit. Plus, the LA crooner will be performing right next door to us in Indonesia a few days prior to Splendour. Hmmm...
Bonobo: LIKELY
The British producer is another artist who's been announced on the lineup for Japan's Fuji Rock Fest, and he's also got a NZ tour date announced just a few days after Splendour. Case dismissed.
Korn: UNLIKELY
Despite previously revealing that they're plotting an Australian tour for 2017, the nu-metal legends are tied up with US tour dates over the Splendour weekend.
Stormzy: LIKELY
After promising to "definitely" tour Australia in 2017, the Grime MC has no tour dates announced past May.
Catfish And The Bottlemen: LIKELY
The UK indie rockers may have only just visited us for Falls over New Year's, but after telling fans they'd be returning real soon, they've since been announced for Japan's Fuji Rock fest and have no other tour dates announced which could clash with Splendour.
HAIM: LIKELY
Fans were disappointed when HAIM failed to materialise on the SITG2016 lineup, but 2017 could well be their year. The gals currently have no clashing tour dates with the Splendour weekender and seem to be on a run of playing big global fests this year.
Alt-J: UNLIKELY
Another act ruled out thanks to Lollapalooza Paris. 🙁
Hockey Dad: LIKELY
After being announced on this year's Splendour & Falls SXSW party lineup, Hockey Dad are in excellent stead to be included on the lineup for SITG2017.
Frank Ocean: UNLIKELY
The enigmatic artist may be performing live again after a three-year hiatus, but he's also been announced on the lineup for FYF Fest in the US which is being held on the exact same weekend as Splendour, almost certainly knocking him out of the running.
Mac DeMarco: LIKELY
The Mac attack has a brand new album coming out in May and a year packed full of global tour dates, but suspiciously he's got no shows booked in for the month of July. Damning evidence?
Solange: UNLIKELY
Beyonce's sis has also been knocked out of contention thanks to her appearance at FYF Fest, which is going down on the exact same weekend as Splendour over in the US.
Tkay Maidza: LIKELY
The rhyme-spitter is another one who's been included on the Splendour SXSW showcase this year, which means following it up with a spot on the proper festival lineup would make a whole lotta sense.
Muse: UNLIKELY
Despite being yet to announce an Australian tour off the back of their 2015 album 'Drones', Muse fans will be disappointed to learn that the rockin' trio are unlikely to feature on the SITG2017 lineup, having announced US tour dates smack-bang in the middle of the Splendour weekend.
Father John Misty: LIKELY
Father John is another artist who'll be making the trip south of the equator for Japan's Fuji Rock, and has no other July tour dates announced.
Amy Shark: LIKELY
After a whirlwind few months which have seen her come runner-up in triple j's Hottest 100 and embark on a sell-out headline tour, indie IT girl Amy Shark is a shoe-in.
