Original Story: Splendour in the Grass and The Falls Festival have once again teamed up for a kickass joint effort SXSW party.
This year’s show, which takes place at Austin’s Sidewinder on Wednesday 16 March, will feature an awesome array of artists from Australia, the UK, the US and Canada, including Vallis Alps, Methyl Ethel, DZ Deathrays, Beach Slang, Matt Woods and The Strumbrellas.
The two Aussie festivals are teaming up at SXSW for a third year running after hosting a SXSW Party in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Last year’s instalment featured the likes of Urban Cone (the only act to make it onto the 2015 Splendour lineup later), Max Frost, Walking on Cars and Until the Ribbon Breaks.
A string of Aussie acts are set to take on SXSW this year, including Melbourne’s Gold Class and New Zealand-born singer-songwriter Demi Louise and Perth’s Methyl Ethel.
It’s hard to say how indicative the party lineup is of who might be touching down to play in Oz this year – previous parties haven’t grown into Aussie tours for many of the artists – but that won’t stop us getting excited. Splendour’s full 2016 lineup will be announced next month, so watch this space.
