Spotify has just unleashed a bunch of juicy new stats spotlighting Aussie music on a global scale. The juggernaut streaming platform has shared a fun little list dubbed the “Australian Music Global Impact List”, which essentially ranks the Top 30 tracks from Aussie artists that have been punching hardest on the streams – outside of Australia – in the first half of 2024.
Topping the list is Melbourne hip-hop singer-songwriter and producer Lithe with his tune ‘Fall Back’, which topped Spotify’s Viral Charts after going gangbusters across both Instagram and TikTok. Lithe actually appears on the list twice, with his single ‘Like We Wrote’ also hitting the list at number #28.

Coming in at number #2 in the rankings of earth-conquering local tunezillas is the blockbuster collab ‘Somebody’ from Chris Lake, FISHER, Gotye, Kimbra and Sante Sanstone. Another collab took the number #3 slot – 5 Seconds Of Summer’s big team-up with David Guetta and Galantis, ‘Lighter’. Fourth place went to 20-year-old producer Melbourne Tobiahs, with his track ‘Lifetime’, while Royel Otis took out #5 with their triple j Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’.
The full 30 features a heartening mix of both emerging artists and more establish acts.

The stats come hot on the heels of Spotify’s 2023 Loud & Clear report, which definitively cemented Australia’s status as a musical export powerhouse. Those numbers showed that more than 80% of all royalties generated by local artists on Spotify last year came from listeners outside of Australia. And it seems that trend could very much be continuing in 2024.
