Stone Sour’s New Album Will Include Comic Book Release

Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor has told Kerrang! magazine details of Stone Sour’s fourth album – saying “it’s nearly done”.

Speaking backstage at the Download Festival in the UK, Taylor told the mag that the band are also planning a comic book to coincide with the album’s release.

“There’s gonna be a bunch of big announcements next week that I’m gonna unleash on Twitter, and I’m just gonna start giving people more information, including the titles’, he said.

“But we’re actually working on getting a comic together for DC Comics. We’re trying to figure out how we can do it. And they’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s gonna take some time.”

“But hopefully… we’re definitely gonna have a digital version up online and then probably a couple of months later the hard-copy version. So as a comic fan, I’m kind of losing my shit right now.”

His comments follow up a recent interview in Revolver Magazine, where he described it as “Pink Floyd’s The Wall crossed with Alice In Chains’ Dirt, with some good heavy blasts in there”. Of note, he said one song in particular sounded like a “total ass-kicker” that sounded “as if Slayer and Anthrax had a baby”.

BlabberMouth has reported that Skid Row’s Rachel Bolan has laid down bass tracks for the record, describing the new material as “fucking fierce”.

There’s no news on a release date yet. Stone Sour are recording the album in a studio just outside of Iowa, USA, with David Botrill (Tool, Silverchair) in the producer’s chair.
