12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief live from Madison Square Garden kicks off in a little under two hours. The benefit concert can be streamed live (Scroll down below) and features one of the biggest lineups in recent history.
Performing at The Concert for Sandy Relief on this historic date (which was yesterday for us Australian folk) is Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Rodger Waters, Kanye West, Eddie Vedder, The Who, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, The Rolling Stones, and a rumoured reunion of Nirvana with Paul McCartney filling in for the late, great Kurt Cobain.
Yesterday, the rumours began to intensify that the legendary Beatle will substitute as the frontman for what would be the first Nirvana performance since the death of Cobain. This morning Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic tweeted that there might even be a new song written by McCartney and the surviving members of Nirvana.
“It is a new song that’s kind of Helter Skelter meets Scentless Apprentice. It rocks with a heavy groove. St. Paul is powerful. @Pontifex”, Novoselic tweeted. @Pontifex is allegedly the official Twitter page of His Holiness Pope Benedict.
Whatever the case may be, this should prove to be an epic concert at one of the most storied venues in the world. Be sure to stream 12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief live from MSG, watch history in the making, and maybe throw in a few bucks for people trying to rebuild over the Christmas holidays.
