Bust out your black leathers because The Strokes are cooking up some brand new Strokey goodness.
The Splendour In The Grass 2016 headliners have officially re-entered the studio to begin work on album number 6 AKA their first new full-length LP since 2013’s Comedown Machine.
Strokes guitarman Nick Valensi, who’s out promoting his other project CRX, confirmed the news to DIY Mag (via Consequence Of Sound): “We are slowly but surely working on an album,” he reveals.
“I don’t know when it’s going to be released, we’re kind of just in writing sessions. We’re writing. I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that.”
The Strokes’ last release was of course their Future Present, Past EP which divided some fans, marking a return to their signature sound while showing off frontman Julian Casablancas’s trademark musical kook in spades.
Anyway, while we play the waiting game for album #6, you can busy yourself with CRX‘s debut record New Skin, which was produced by none other than Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and is due out on Friday, 28th October.
