Still Waiting for Sum 41 to make a comeback? Well wait no longer skumfuks, because the punk metal kings of the early naughties have got a brand new album in the works.
The Sums are getting ready to storm back through the party like their name was El Niño, and they’ve launched a Pledge campaign for you to help them git ‘er done.
“Words can’t describe how good it feels to be back, so I’ll just let the music do that instead,” Deryck, Cone and Tom said in a statement (via Kerrang!).
“It’s been a crazy few years for all of us in one way or another, but with this much needed break and a new lease on life Sum 41 is back and stronger and more excited than we have been in a long time. It’s time to make a fucking great record!”
Needless to say it’s excellent news for fans, but it’s equally excellent news for frontman Deryck Whibley, who recently cleaned up his act after his rampant alcoholism literally almost killed him.
Over the next few months, the band will pre-sell their first new studio album in five years to fans via the PledgeMusic site. Punters will also have access to special bonus content, stories and updates on the making of the disc.
We haven’t been given much insight into the content of the new record so far, but we bet it’ll be all killer, no filler.
Sum 41 last played to Australian crowds back in 2013 for Soundwave, and with a bit of luck, a new album will bring them back to our shores sometime soon.
