Just when it was starting to look as though Supafest was going to pull through for a big 2013 comeback, it seems things have started to unravel. FasterLouder have reported that the previously announced Melbourne venue, Flemington Racecourse, has cancelled its arrangement with promoters, leaving the Victorian leg of the festival homeless.
According to the statement, the venue “provided the promoter Supafest with the opportunity to meet its contractual obligations with respect to the venue booking of Flemington Racecourse” but now just a matter of days until the event takes place, its been revealed “the promoter has failed to meet those contractual obligations and accordingly the Victoria Racing Club has had no alternative but to cancel the booking”.
The Victoria Racing Club has requested that all references to its venue be removed from Supafest signage and advertising.
Further adding to concerns of ticket holders was the less-than-confidence response from former Supafest promoter John Denison who, when asked if he knew “anything about T.I or Ne-Yo getting dropped from the Supafest line up”, responded “expect the worse”.
Uh-oh.
UPDATE: We’ve now got news that RNA Showgrounds is no longer hosting Supafest in Brisbane. More details here.
