Sydney’s Carriageworks Announces Full 2019 Program

Beloved Sydney culture space Carriageworks has unveiled its full 2019 program, complete with a selection of boundary-pushing musical performances.

Having already confirmed it will host Sydney Festival shows from the the likes of Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry and experimental producer Ben Frost, Carriageworks has now announced performances from Japanese improvisation group Marginal Consort, members of Australian music collective Ensemble Offspring and more.

Producer Lawrence English’s experimental label Room 40 will also return with its annual Open Frame program in June, featuring performances from Japanese noise icons Merzbow, Canadian producer Loscil (performing in Australia for the very first time) and experimentalists Fia Fell and Sandra Selig.

‘A Drone Opera’ video installation by visual artist Matthew Sleeth will be accompanied by sounds from composer Susan Frykberg, while Klub Koori will showcase Indigenous musicians to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

In total, Carriageworks’ 2019 program features 86 projects across music, contemporary art, dance, performance and food. View the full 2019 program right here.
