The 2017 edition of Sydney Festival will kick off the year with 22 ticketed music events across five venues, as well as 21 nights of free music across the city and CBD.
A hugely diverse music program is headed by legends PJ Harvey and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, but will also see a heap of up-and-coming stars perform including Wafia, Weyes Blood, Moses Sumney and more.
Regurgitator and Cash Savage will be playing shows, as will legendary French musician and composer Yann Tiersen.
One of the most exciting musical events of the festival comes in the form of a special event called 1967 – Music In The Key Of Yes, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum – a crucial date in the struggle for Indigenous rights. This historic event will feature a slew of Indigenous Australians performing including the likes of Dan Sultan, Adalita, Thelma Plum & more.
Organisers have revealed the full music program that will feature across a heap of venues including the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall, the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent, St Stephens on Macquarie Street and at the new 9000 seat ICC theatre in Darling Harbour from the 7th to the 29th of January, 2017.
As usual the lineup features plenty of local and international musicians, with acts from the UK, France, USA, Canada, Niger, Norway, Ukraine and even Azerbaijan joining the music program of the festival.
