Sydney indie rock royals Red Riders have returned to ride again following a six-year absence, and are teaming up with modern-day genre defenders Dappled Cities for an East Coast tour.
The reunited scene heroes will support their next-gen brethren at three big dates on their freshly-announced album jaunt this May and June, playing to crowds in Melbourne, Brisbane and — of course — Sydney.
The freshly announced home turf show will go down at the City Recital Hall and include a guest DJ set from Keep Sydney Open founder Tyson Koh.
It follows Red Riders’ massive and unexpected reunion show for Red Bull’s ‘Sound Select’ series, which fired up the Red Rattler this past weekend.
“We’re very pleased to announce that our mates Red Riders will be joining us for all dates on our upcoming album tour,” Dappled Cities posted on Facebook. “Yep, THE Red Riders. They reunited to play a special show last weekend in Sydney and when we heard this was happening we just… couldn’t… help ourselves. We asked, they said yes, and now it’s on! Just a bunch of mates having a laugh.”
The pair’s big team-up comes after Dappled Cities were announced on this year’s big programme for Vivid LIVE.
The three-time J feature album honourees are gunning for an 80% strike rate with their imminent fifth studio LP Five, stylised as |||||, which is due to drop on Friday, 5th May through their new label home, Chugg Music.
