Gadigal/Sydney-based indie-pop artist Jodi has returned with a spunky new single dubbed ‘I Know A Girl’.
Co-written by Alex McIntyre (AKA Lola Scott) and produced/mixed by Alistair Hayes (Daphnie), ‘I Know A Girl’ is a collision of punk-pop and melancholic indie-pop, written about a boy.
Jodi – ‘I Know A Girl’
“Holistically, this track is about knowing you aren’t the only one he’s seeing,” Jodi explains in a press statement. “It’s revengeful and confident.”
She continued: “When we (Alex Mcyntire ‘Lola Scott’) wrote this demo in Nov 2022, it was over Zoom in the afternoon and it was prefaced with gossip. ‘I Know A Girl’ starts in a pretty desperate outlook; you’re starting your grief journey over this situationship and the rage is about to kick in… Themes of a rockstar’s god-complex surface, alongside feelings of shame and confusion.”
To celebrate the release, Jodi will perform live at a single launch party at Sydney’s The Vanguard on Wednesday, 10th July, with support from jnr. and SUÉ.
For now, you can stream ‘I Know A Girl’ up above.
