Long Island legends Taking Back Sunday are back in the game, announcing that their sixth full-length studio effort, Happiness Is, will be out Friday, 14th March, preceded by first single Flicker, Fade.
Happiness Is is the second record from the band since reviving their classic lineup of Adam Lazzara, John Nolan, Eddie Reyes, Shaun Cooper and Mark O’Connell. The band have taken some risks and expanded their sound, with Lazzara saying they’ve taken a more relaxed approach to songwriting this time around:
“I tried to be a little more loose; I was more focused on being myself than trying to sound perfect or anything. We also played around a lot with arranging the harmonies and playing with layers and I think that makes these songs a lot more rich.”
He’s also confessed that the follow up to their 2011 self-titled effort sees him at his most personal. “In the past I don’t think I ever would have let a song like Like You Do go on an album because it’s so heartfelt in a simple way and I also think it’s actually one of the first love songs we’ve ever written.”
Happiness Is can be preordered now and comes with a free instant download of Flicker, Fade.
