After many months of rumours and intrigue, details of Tame Impala’s collaboration with Motown great Diana Ross have now been confirmed.
The original track, ‘Turn Up The Sunshine,’ will feature on the soundtrack to the upcoming computer-animated comedy, Minions: The Rise of Gru. The film, which is due for release in July 2022, is the sequel to 2015’s Minions. The voice cast includes Steve Carrell, Julie Andrews, Russell Brand, Michelle Yeoh, Danny Trejo, Dolph Lundgren and more.
The soundtrack was produced and curated by Jack Antonoff, and it’s a star-studded affair. In addition to Ross and Tame Impala, the likes of Brittany Howard, St. Vincent, Brockhampton, RZA, Thundercat, Kali Uchis and Weyes Blood all appear, covering songs by Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang, Nancy Sinatra, The Carpenters, Sly and the Family Stone and various other greats of the 1970s.
‘Turn Up The Sunshine’, by Diana Ross featuring Tame Impala, will be the album’s lead single. It’s expected on Friday, 20th May. Find the complete tracklisting below.
