Taylor Swift is breaking records once again, this time achieving the biggest one-week vinyl album sales in the US with her record Evermore.
Since the album arrived on vinyl last week, Swift sold over 40,000 copies in the US in just three days, besting Jack White’s previously held record for Lazaretto, which sold 40,000 copies in the US in its first week of release in June 2014.
That means Swift has more days up her sleeve to increase her record-breaking lead, with sales counting up until Thursday, June 3rd.
Prior to Jack White, Pearl Jam held the record, having sold 34,000 copies in one week of their 1994 album Vitalogy.
Evermore was released online on December 11 2020, just a day after Swift announced the project. While the album’s vinyl version was announced later that month, it was not released until May 28.
Recently, Taylor Swift has been issuing re-recordings of her back catalogue in order to take ownership of her masters, following the dispute with Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is the first of the re-recorded albums and was released on April 9, 2021.
