After premiering last night, the first reviews for the new film adaptation of classic musical Cats seem to confirm what most of us kind of suspected – it’s a pretty bloody cursed piece of cinema.
However, one of the sole elements that managed to get by relatively unscathed was Jennifer Hudson’s performance of the musical’s show-stopping number ‘Memory’.
Now, the film’s stars – including Hudson, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, James Corden and Francesca Hayward – have appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform a new rendition of the classic number, backed by The Roots and Fallon.
Graciously, everyone is there in their full human forms – no haunted anthropomorphic feline CGI to be found.
For their instruments, the group made use of a variety of alley trash, including garbage lids, empty bottles and paint cans.
As Rolling Stone points out, while the film sees Hudson deliver the ballad solo, each co-star took a turn up front for this take, with Hudson closing out the song.
