Tenacious D’s Wild Beatles Cover Is So Good Even Paul McCartney Endorses It

Tenacious D are once again blasting some of their trademark chaotic good into the universe, unveiling their latest pièce de résistance in the form of a Beatles medley.

The dynamic duo of Kyle Gass Jack Black have taken on two iconic tracks from the Beatles seminal album 1969’s Abbey Road – ‘You Never Give Me Your Money’ and ‘The End’ – all in the name of charity, with all proceeds from vinyl sales being directed towards Doctors Without Borders.

It wouldn’t be a Tenacious D cover if it didn’t also include some wild visuals and so the band have delivered on that front too, the track’s accompanying visuals making some fantastic use of a green screen and costumes you simply will not forget.

Lest you take just our word for it, this morning the cover was given a tick of approval by an actual Beatle, when one Sir Paul McCartney shared the video saying, “This Tenacious D cover of our song is fantastic! It’s so imaginative and so well performed. What a great tribute to the original. Guys – I love it. Check it out!”

This isn’t Tenacious D’s first cover-for-a-cause rodeo, of course. Earlier this year Kyle Gass, Jack Black and a bunch of other famous mates joined forces for a musical number aimed at encouraging fans to book in for the COVID jab.

Rockstars like Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Danko Jones and Toto’s Steve Lukather, plus comedian John C. Reilly & more linked up with the band on a cover of the Ramones classic ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’, turning it into a pro-vaccination anthem.

You can pre-order the limited-edition Tenacious D Beatles cover vinyl benefitting Doctors Without Borders, here. Now, do as Sir Paul says and check it out, below.
