Tex Perkins and The Tennessee Four will perform a special Johnny Cash tribute with Rachel Tidd next month as a fundraiser for her four year-old son who has been diagnosed with cancer.
They will play at The Athenaeum to raise money for Frank Folley who is the son of Tidd and Dave Folley both musicians who have performed in Cash tributes The Man In Black and now Far From Folsom with Perkins.
Folley was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare, aggressive, tumour-based children’s cancer which has no known cause.
Frankie has been an honorary member of Perkins’ band, travelling around the country with his parents pretty much since he was born. At a young age, he’s now had to endure six rounds of heavy chemotherapy, testing and surgery. He’s bouncing back well but he’s missed out on a year of kindergarten and he’s not even half way through his treatment.
Tidd and Foley have obviously had to re-arrange their lives in order to be close to the hospital and that plus the cost of the treatment is adding up.
Perkins and his band plus Tidd will perform Cash classics alongside a stellar lineup. They’ll be joined by Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk with Dave Folley on drums and Lost Ragas made up of Matt Walker and Shane Reilly who both appear in Far From Folsom. Brian Nankervis will host the night.
