Animorphs, that 10/10 unhinged ’90s book series and TV show, is getting a film adaptation. For the unfamiliar Animorphs is a sci-fi series that follows five teens: Jake, Marco, Cassie, Rachel, and Tobias. They all have a secret ability to morph into any animal they touch – and they look absolutely cooked while morphing.
You used to be able to pick up the Scholastic books, written by K.A. Applegate, at blessed Book Week. The books were adapted into a TV series too, which was ace.
So now they’re adapting it into a live-action movie and Scholastic and Picturestart will be co-developing it. Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman will co-produce the film alongside Picturestart’s Erik Feig and Lucy Kitada.
It’s not clear at the moment whether the film adaptation will tie back in with the two-season TV series, Animorphs. Catch the TV series’ intro down below for a lil’ nostalgia.
