Soon after the unveiling of The Amity Affliction’s third studio album Chasing Ghosts, the first LP released via Roadrunner Records, the Australian hardcore act will be hitting the road for their most expansive national tour ever. The tour will be supported by two intense international acts: the hardcore The Ghost Inside, and metal maniacs Architect, as well as local band, the ripping Buried.
Much anticipation exists around the release of The Amity Affliction’s Chasing Ghosts, as well as some controversy. The cover art, which depicts a young man hanging himself, has reportedly been met with criticism and attempted censorship.
The Amity Affliction even tweeted about the opposition they have encountered in the lead-up to the new record’s release. Posting the following message on the band’s official Twitter account (actual tweet embedded below).
“So. Our album artwork hasn’t even come out and it’s causing issues. The Government won’t properly acknowledge suicide but they’ll censor it.”
As for the content of the new record, band vocalist Joel Birch said that Chasing Ghosts may just be the most personal record The Amity Affliction has created to date.
“I’ve tried to write my thoughts in a manner that can connect with people on an even more personal level than I did on Youngbloods, and I’m proud that the substance and depth hasn’t been lost or compromised, or watered down”, Birch said.
