The Amity Affliction have taken to their social media channels to assure fans that the recent departure of lead guitarist Troy Brady does not spell the end of the band. The band have issued a statement saying they have already begun work on their next record and do not plan on letting Brady’s exit “slow us down”.
“Although Troy was with us since the band began, in no way will his departure slow us down,” opens the band’s statement on Facebook. “We are already writing for our next record, and our tour schedule over the next year is looking to be our busiest yet. The boat sails on, see you tonight New York!” The statement was issued hours before the band played a sold-out New York show as part of their current US tour.
Meanwhile, Amity frontman Joel Birch has quashed any rumours that Brady’s exit could mean the dissolution of the Queensland metalcore outfit. After the notion was put to Birch via Twitter, the vocalist responded to the fan incredulously, writing, “Why would we break up because [Troy] isn’t around?”
A founding member of the group, Brady announced his departure yesterday via the band’s official Facebook page. Although Brady would not disclose his reasons for quitting the group, the guitarist claimed that “it is time for me to step away” and called the decision “the hardest thing I have ever done”.
The Amity Affliction are scheduled to play several more American tour dates before they head over to Europe. The announcement of Brady’s exit came just days after the band announced a forthcoming 15-date Australian tour set for January, and a headline spot at the inaugural UNIFY Gathering festival.
