The Amity Affliction‘s lead guitarist Troy Brady has taken to the band’s official Facebook page to announce his decision to quit the Gympie, Queensland metalcore outfit. Brady would not disclose his reasons for quitting the popular group, saying only that “it is time for me to step away.”
“It’s with deep regret I need to let you all know I will no longer be writing music or performing as part of The Amity Affliction,” writes Brady. “Myself and Ahren [Stringer] started this band 11 years ago, and spent every second of every day thinking about making the next step. I never dreamed I would see the world through music and make the life long friends that i have made. But it is time for me to step away.”
Brady then goes on to thank his supporters, writing, “Although I’m not ready to go into any of the personal details behind this, I want to thank everyone who has supported me during my time in the band especially my family and girlfriend. This decision has been the hardest thing I have ever done.”
“Through music I have become more enlightened and a better person, I have no regrets with my time in amity as it made me who I am today,” he adds. “Most of all thanks to all of the fans who have made it possible for me to do this, I will never forget it.” He ends by wishing his bandmates “all the best”.
The band is currently in the middle of a US tour and scheduled to play several more Stateside dates, including a sold-out New York performance, before touring Europe. The news comes just days after the band announced a forthcoming Australian tour and a headline spot at the inaugural UNIFY Gathering.
UPDATE 13/10/14: The Amity Affliction have taken to their social media channels to assure fans that Brady’s departure will not slow them down, saying they have already begun work on their next record and plan to honour their busy tour schedule.
