Fancy going to the UK and paying for something with a note featuring The Beatles‘ faces on it?
Well, that could soon become a reality – with the Fab Four, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, and Robbie Williams all making the shortlist for the new face on the Poms’ £10 note.
According to UK tabloid The Mirror, the Bank of England has released a list of 150 names that have been suggested by members of the public for the honour.
Royal dignitaries including the late Princess Diana, the Queen mother, and the Duke of Edinburough have all been suggested.
Former England soccer captain David Beckham, veteran TV presenter Michael Parkinson, and literacy great William Shakespeare are some of the other names who have also been thrown into the hat.
But according to The Mirror, World War II computer pioneer Alan Turing is the people’s choice, with an online petition for his achievements to be recognised receiving more than 25,000 signatures.
The new £10 Note – known as the Series F note – will eventually replace the current Series E featuring scientist Charles Darwin. It is unknown when the announcement of the new face will be made and when the new notes will be printed.
