During a recent interview with BBC, James McCartney, son of Paul McCartney, suggested he was open to the possiblity of forming a band with the other sons of The Beatles.
When asked about the possibility of forming The Beatles: The Next Generation with Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr’s son), Dhani Harrison and Sean Lennon, James McCartney responded by saying…
“I don’t think it’s something that Zak wants to do. Maybe Jason (Starkly) would want to do it. I’d be up for it. Sean seemed to be into it, Dhani seemed to be into it. I’d be happy to do it”
However, approximately 6 hours ago James McCartney did take to his Facebook account and admit that the idea of The Beatles: The Next Generation is far from a reality.
Hi Everyone…well, looks like quite some attention being given to my BBC interview! Honestly, I was just thinking out loud about playing with Beatles’ family friends, nothing more. My band’s going to be on tour in the UK and US for most of this year, and the shows are going great! I’m so grateful…Lots of love to you all…!
As for James McCartney’s current music, his next gig will take place at Cavern Club in Liverpool; a venue famous for hosting The Beatles. Again, when speaking with BBC about performing at the Cavern Club and in the shadow of the Fab Four, James McCartney said he’d rather, “embrace the Beatles’ legacy rather than running away from it.”
