The organisers of The 9th Coopers AMP have added seven more albums to the 2014 longlist, including releases by The Delta Riggs and Kirin J.Callinan. Meanwhile, PPCA have been announced to return as the award’s principal partner.
The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Limited was established in 1969, a national, non-government, not-for-profit organisation, who represent “the interest of record companies and Australian recording artists.”
The winner of The 9th Coopers AMP will receive a $30,000 prize. Previous winners include Augie March for Moo, You Bloody Choir in 2006, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, who won for Primary Colours in 2008, and Lisa Mitchell for her 2009 LP Wonder.
The AMP looks to increase the profile of all the artists involved, offering them opportunities for online exposure and organising events for both short and longlisted artists. The new additions to the longlist, which readers can view below, join albums by The Drones, Bob Evans, and Nick Cave.
