The Dickies Will Finally Tour Australia In 2015

After nearly 40 years of existence, US pop-punk stalwarts The Dickies will finally play their first-ever tour of Australia in April 2015, with shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The group, who formed in San Fernando in 1977, are renowned for their wild sense of humour and energetic punk covers of classic songs.

Even after a long list of line-up changes, The Dickies still play and record with founding members Stan Lee and Leonard Graves Phillips. The band’s live shows have incorporated clown costumes, puppets and intense mosh-pits in the past, so their first Australian tour will no doubt be a sight to behold.

The Dickies’ debut Australian tour is also sure to include performances of the group’s best-known track, Banana Splits (Tra la la song), which offers a punk reinterpretation of the theme song from television program The Banana Splits Adventure Hour.

The Dickies have now released six studio albums, their most recent effort being 2001’s All This and Puppet Stew. In their heyday, the group became the first West Coast punk outfit to sign to a major label, releasing albums The Incredible Shrinking Dickies and Dawn of the Dickies in 1979.

The Dickies’ 2015 Australian tour kicks off in Melbourne on Thursday, 16th April, and finishes up in Saturday on Saturday, 18th April. Tour and ticket details are available below.
