The Eagles will be joined by original lineup guitarist Bernie Leadon on their upcoming world tour. Don Henley recently confirmed the news that Leadon will be playing with the band for the first time since 1975.
Talking to Rolling Stone in 2008, Leadon said he originally left the band in order to take “some time to regroup”. “I suggested taking some time off,” he added, “They weren’t excited about that idea.” Leadon has been called in while the band’s relationship with former guitarist Don Felder remain toxic.
Henley has previously stated this may be the last tour for The Eagles, saying:
“This could very well be our last major tour. Covering the entire globe will take us about two years. The demand has been so strong in some markets that we have to return next year, because multiple nights at arenas just aren’t available right now.
“Here in the States, we have to work around the schedules of the basketball and hockey teams. So, by the time we get through this tour it’ll be 2015 and we’ll all be in our late 60s.”
Guess they’re not keen on taking The Rolling Stones route for their careers. Regardless, Henley looks back fondly on what has been a long and illustrious career in rock, saying, “It’s been an incredible experience for all of us, but it may be time to say adios and bow out gracefully.”
