The Grates announce “Secret Rituals” Australian tour in June

Having spent the better part of two years immersing themselves in Brooklyn culture and taking a bite of the Big Apple, it’s fitting that The Grates new album Secret Rituals should take on a few traits of the city that never sleeps.

Tough in its intent and infectious in its delivery, their third album holds the promise of drawing an army of new fans to their beck and call. The Grate will have those fans marching to see them in June 2011 when they kick off a series of intimate gigs to show off their new wares.

The Grates’ live performances are now the stuff of legend. Patience’s dance moves are oft-copied, but never perfected. Patience’s gambolling antics take on another level with this rugged new material that she has described as her most lyrically open and challenging yet. A full live band joins John and Patience on stage to round out the sound and capture the full extent of the studio recording.

The band are looking forward to returning to the road, having missed the rolling Australian landscape as they traversed North America with the likes of Passion Pit and Those Darlings. They’ve learnt a few new tricks.

The tour kicks off in Perth on the day of the album release on June 17th and takes in all capital cities including Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and ends in their home-town of Brisbane.
