The Hollywood Vampires Perform With Marilyn Manson, Tom Morello, Geezer Butler & More At First-Ever Shows

The Hollywood Vampires rock supergroup formed by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry has used its two debut shows at Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre to team up with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler, Perry Farrell from Jane’s Addiction and even pop singer Ke$ha.

As Loudwire reports, The Hollywood Vampires — that’s Cooper, Perry and Depp, with Guns N’ Roses veterans Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum — used their debut show to get Morello and Butler to do their thang on a rendition of the Jimi Hendrix classic Manic Depression.

The show also saw Farrell take up lead vocals on a cover of Harry Nilsson’s Jump Into the Fire, before returning with Morello and, for some reason, Ke$ha, for a medley of Alice Cooper’s School’s Out and Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall.

As Loudwire also reports, The Hollywood Vampire’s second show at The Roxy saw similar collaborations, with Ke$ha taking up vocals on a bluesy rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love and The Who/Oasis drummer Zak Starkey taking up the sticks for The Who’s I’m a Boy and the School’s Out/Another Brick In The Wall medley.

Towards the end of the set, The Hollywood Vampires welcomed Marilyn Manson to the stage during Cooper’s I’m Eighteen.

The Hollywood Vampires released their self-titled debut album earlier this month, with all sales proceeds going to the MusiCares charity group.

Speaking with Music Feeds earlier this year, Cooper explained how The Hollywood Vampires project came about.

“I had a drinking club called the Hollywood Vampires in Los Angeles in 1972 to ’73,” Cooper said.

“And every single night it was Harry Nilsson and Keith Moon, and when John Lennon was in town it was him. And it was all the guys that drank… It was sort of a drinking club.

“Well, I watched all of those guys die. I mean, every single one of ’em, except for John, died from drinking or drugs or whatever it was. So we decided I wanted to do an album, a covers album. I’ve never done a covers album. And I decided that I wanted to do an album that was dedicated to my dead, drunk friends.”
