Adele Caused A Stir With This Jamaican Flag Outfit Photo & Yeh The Internet Has Reacted

Adele shared a photo of herself, presumably at last year’s Notting Hill Carnival on Instagram today. The photo shows her wearing a Jamaican flag bikini, black and white tie dye leggings and yellow wings, fit with her hair in Bantu knots, a traditional African hairstyle.

The post was to commemorate the day that would’ve been Notting Hill Carnival if not for the pandemic. Adele captioned the post, “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London.”

Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event that goes down in London. The carnival is all about celebrating the Black and Caribbean communities in the UK and is lead by the British West Indian community.

The photo has caused backlash for Adele. She’s been accused of cultural appropriation, for her top and hairstyle.

Ernest Owens tweeted, “If 2020 couldn’t get anymore bizarre, Adele is giving us Bantu knots and cultural appropriation that nobody asked for.”

“This officially marks all of the top white women in pop as problematic. Hate to see it.”

While another Twitter user said, “Ok besides the cultural appropriation is Adele like okay?”

Others are saying it’s cultural appreciation rather than appropriation, though.

And, other users are just concerned a reggae album may be on the cards.

Adele is set to drop a new album next month, by the way.
