The Killers Perform Backstage Acoustic Set After Rain Ends NYC Show

The Killers were booked as headliners for Saturday night’s We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert held in Central Park, New York City. However, rain and lightning brought the event to an early close.

The Killers were primed and ready to perform, however. And so, surrounded by a throng of eager journalists and crew, the Las Vegas band pumped through a handful of their biggest hits. The backstage performance was entirely unplugged and unvarnished, and much of it occurred before the event had been officially cancelled.

Video was captured of the band playing ‘Human’, before which singer Brandon Flowers asks for help remembering the first line. They also played ‘Mr Brightside’, which TV personality Gayle King filmed for CNN broadcaster Anderson Cooper. Flowers can be seen telling someone off camera about watching Cooper on Channel One News when he was in the fourth grade.

Flowers and the band – which here includes founding drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and guitarist Dave Keuning, plus a couple of touring members – also played ‘Read My Mind’. Check it out below.

The Killers weren’t the only act to have their We Love NYC performance cancelled. Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith and Paul Simon were among the others to miss out, while the likes of Andrew Bocelli, LL Cool J and Jennifer Hudson were able to get onstage before the weather went bananas.
