The Killers Reveal ‘Christmas In LA’ Video Starring Owen Wilson

Continuing their eight-year-long tradition, The Killers, in partnership with (RED), have released a new track called Christmas In L.A. with 100% of song proceeds going to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.

The video for the holiday track opens with a disenchanted Owen Wilson asking the voice of Harry Dean Stanton for advice on breaking into acting. Stanton’s replies of “do nothing” aren’t exactly inspiring and sets the tone for the typically melancholic Killers song that follows.

The clip, which switches between animation and live action, follows Wilson as he wanders through Los Angeles alone on Christmas Day. Lead singer Brandon Flowers, accompanied by soft piano chords and acoustic guitars, provides the gentle soundtrack, singing of the loneliness of trying to make it in LA.

The making of the song was not so lonely an affair, however. The song also features Californian folk rockers Dawes, the video animation was supplied by students at Brigham Young University and they even manage to slip in an animated cameo by late rocker Warren Zevon looking onto his self-titled album.
