2008 proved to be a huge success for THE LIVING END and now the clock has clicked over to celebrate another year the band continue to maintain their dominance as the rock band of the year as they kicked into a new gear with extraordinary performances on the national Big Day Out tour.
May 2009 will be diarised as the Australian rock calendar event of the year with a tour of four capital cities featuring three of Australia’s hottest rock bands, THE LIVING END will be joined by special guests Gyroscope and Tame Impala on the The Raise The Alarm tour, this will be THE LIVING END’s only major city performances for 2009. Also a reminder these venues are suitable for an all ages audience giving an opportunity for the army of youngsters who love the band to get their live Living End hit for one last time this year! Tickets are on sale from Thursday February 26th and with the band having won over a whole new breed of fans these shows are sure to sell out fast!
Their highly successful ‘White Noise’ album proved to be a phenomenal return to form for THE LIVING END, the single was undoubtedly the rock anthem of the year with national airplay on all major radio formats and killer live performances on a broad range of national TV shows. In October last year the band opened the prestigious ARIA Awards with a killer live performance of their epic single ‘White Noise’. Nominated for four ARIA awards including single and album of the year they took out the coveted Best Rock Album. The ‘White Noise’ single and album are currently just shy of platinum and for a band with a work ethic second to none; the Raise The Alarm tour will bring continued success for the band and their critically lauded album.
‘White Noise’ is destined to become their most successful single and album since their 5 x platinum debut. The single spent 6 weeks in the top 5 airplay chart and 24 weeks in the ARIA Top 50. Their new single ‘Raise The Alarm’ out now, will certainly see THE LIVING END continue their supreme reign of the Australian rock scene. As a special added bonus for fans, March 7th sees the release of a special rarities collection edition of ‘White Noise’. Renowned for putting on power pumped performances Gyroscope received critical acclaim last year with their number one debuting album ‘Breed Obsession’. They completed their biggest ever national tour on the back of the release of their momentous and poignant single ‘Australia’ which became a sing along anthem along the way. ‘Breed Obsession was accredited gold status and was also nominated at the ARIA’s for rock album of the year. The Raise The Alarm tour will be Gyroscope’s first major shows for nine months and their last shows before they buckle down to record a new album.
Tame Impala, deliver an inimitable style of classic psych rock blending serious riffs with grand grooves with pounding drums. This psychedelic trio from Perth released their debut EP in October last year and toured with luminary acts such as The Black Keys, Mess Hall, Rocket Science, You Am I, Futureheads & Yeasayer as well as MGMT. Tame Impala’s forthcoming debut album will see release later this year.
