Brooklyn based band, The National will tour nationally (ha) with sideshows in Perth and Adelaide announced to coincide with their return to Australia for Harvest Festival later this year. Back on Australian ground after a hugely successful tour here last year, the dapper Matt Berninger and his band will visit Perth and Adelaide even though Harvest isn’t being held in those cities.
The band have recently written a song for the film Win, Win Think You Can Wait. It’s pretty nice, and one of the first things we’ve heard since High Violet in 2010. In other Awesome Reasons To Write A Song News, the band also contributed a song to the soundtrack of Portal 2 – yeah, the videogame. The track, Exile, Vilify, is a typically haunting and moving, lilting piano ballad.
For some fun viewing, check out the video that won the contest that Portal 2 held – it features a sock puppet, a deserted island and all kinds of appropriate existentialism.
