The Pharcyde Announce November Melbourne Show

The Pharcyde have announced they will return to Melbourne’s famous Esplanade Hotel before making their way up to Sydney to perform as part of the forthcoming OutsideIn 2014 festival. The West Coast hip-hop vanguards will be hitting up the Espy with “special guests” on Thursday, 27th November.

Best known for their seminal 1992 release, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, which Kanye West has repeatedly named as his favourite hip-hop album, The Pharcyde have long been considered the vanguards of a style of hip-hop that is at once smart, hard-hitting, tongue-in-cheek, and imbued with self-deprecating humour.

The band’s 20-year career has yielded numerous tracks that are now considered classics of the genre, including Oh Shit, Otha Fish, Runnin’, and Drop, and their influence on hip-hop is far-reaching. In 1995, the group enlisted a then-unknown J Dilla to produce beats for their second album, Labcabincalifornia.

Readers can check below for all the details of The Pharcyde’s upcoming Melbourne show. Tickets are available via Oztix or from the Espy Bottleshop. The group will play OutsideIn 2014 on Saturday, 29th November alongside a lineup featuring Seekae, Roy Davis Jr, Basenji, and more – get the details here.
