ORIGINAL STORY: Sad news for electronic music fans all across the world today, as Keith Flint, the voice leading legendary electronic act The Prodigy, has been found dead. He was 49 years old.

According to BBC, Flint was found dead at his home in Essex after police were called with “concerns for the welfare of a man” earlier this morning. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Surviving Prodigy members Liam Howlett and Maxim released a joint statement about their fallen bandmate.

“It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint,” they said in a statement.

“A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”

The group had stacks of hits to their credit, like ‘Breathe’ and ‘Firestarter’ just to name a few. Their brazen, unrelenting energy earned them the accolade “The Godfathers of Rave” and their 1997 album The Fat Of The Land is often regarded as one of the best albums of the 90’s and one of the best electronic albums of all time.

The Prodigy’s last few shows with Flint were actually played in Australia and New Zealand just last month, as part of the ‘No Tourists’ world tour.

Howlett caught up with Music Feeds earlier this year to say how important it is for them to keep the new music coming.

“We’re proud of what we’ve done, and we’ll always play the old tracks and we love ’em, but we don’t wanna ever be like a retro, heritage band,” he said. “We have been around years, but it’s important to us to keep the fire burning.”

This is a huge, huge loss to the electronic music and wider music community as a whole.

Rest In Peace, Keith Flint. You will be missed.
