The Rolling Stones Announce London And New Jersey Shows – Two In Each City

After months of rumours and speculation, the Rolling Stones have finally announced two shows in London next month to mark the band’s 50th Anniversary.

Stereoboard reports that the rock legends will play two shows at London’s O2 Arena – the site of their last show together back in 2007. There was speculation that the band were performing at the venue after they reminisced about the show with a Facebook status earlier this month.

They’ve also tweeted several pics of their live gear earlier today, which you can check out at the bottom of this page.

Billed as The Rolling Stones: 50 Years and Counting, the shows follow-up on the release of the band’s new single Doom and Gloom last week, which is one of two new tracks on their forthcoming greatest hits compilation GRRR! – out November 9.

No further details are available on the shows, but it’s safe to say that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts will be playing a gigantic greatest hits set – and there’s likely to be way more than two performances if the band allow them.

Tickets for the shows go on sale this Friday, October 19 at 9am UK time (which equates to 7pm AEST).  Until then, if you’re keen to go, start sussing out some cheap airfares to London.

UPDATE – 10.04PM – The Rolling Stones have also announced two shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey – to take place on Thursday, December 13 and Friday, December 15.

Here’s the official video of them announcing both the London and New Jersey dates:
