Earlier this week, news broke of The Rolling Stones‘ drummer Charlie Watts‘ death. On Friday, The Rolling Stones paid tribute to the late drummer in the form of a two-minute video slideshow posted to their social media.
The video showcases a number of archival photos and videos of Watts on stage, behind the scenes, and behind the lens. The Stones’ 1974 single ‘If You Can’t Rock Me’ soundtracks the video.
Watts, who joined the band in 1963, was one of the longest running members of the band. He died on Tuesday, 24th August at age 80. His publicist said that he “died peacefully in a London hospital” where he was “surrounded by family”.
The news arrived just a few weeks after The Rolling Stones announced Watts would not be joining them on tour due to health complications.
After the news of his death broke, his bandmates, as well as other musicians like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Ringo Starr, and more paid tribute to the late drummer online.
