The Rolling Stones world tour will resume in late May, after the band were forced to postpone the 14 On Fire Australian and New Zealand leg following the death of Mick Jagger‘s partner L’Wren Scott.
NME are reporting that The Rolling Stones will recommence their tour in Norway on 26th May, with a string of European dates including a recently announced headline spot at Roskilde Festival in Denmark on 3rd July.
The group are expected to reschedule their Australia/New Zealand dates later in the year, with earlier reports suggesting an October/November return. Promoter Frontier Touring are yet to make a public comment or announcement regarding those dates. Postponing the tour could end up costing a cool $10m.
L’Wren Scott died by suicide on 17th March, shortly after The Rolling Stones arrived in Australia to kick off their tour in Perth. Earlier this month Jagger released a statement explaining that he was “struggling” to understand his partner’s death, and that he had been “touched” by the tributes and messages of support he received.
Scott’s funeral took place in Los Angeles on 25th March. Jagger, his daughters and his grandchildren were all in attendance. Longtime Rolling Stones backing singer Bernard Fowler performed popular Christian hymn Will The Circle Be Unbroken?, joined by Eurythmics‘ Dave Stewart on guitar.
