The Simpsons Episode Featuring Michael Jackson Has Been Left Off Disney+ Catalogue

The complete Simpsons library is now available to stream on new platform Disney+, but 1991 episode ‘Stark Raving Dad’, the first episode from the show’s third season, has been kept off the streaming list, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

While Disney are yet to comment as to why the episode is missing, a likely explanation could be that Michael Jackson was the episode’s guest star. ‘Stark Raving Dad’ saw Jackson – who was not officially credited for his contribution – voice Leon Kompowsky, a man Homer meets while in a psychiatric institution, who claims to be the pop singer.

Back in March of this year, the episode was withdrawn from broadcast circulation in the wake of the HBO Leaving Neverland documentary, in which Jackson is accused of molesting multiple men when they were children.

At the time, executive producer James L. Brooks told the Wall Street Journal “This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain.

“I’m against book-burning of any kind. But this is our book, and we’re allowed to take out a chapter.”

Jackson’s estate has continued to deny all allegations against Jackson.
