Melbourne’s beloved punk quartet The Smith Street Band will be hitting the road for a string of Australian headlining dates in 2014, this time bringing Philadelphia punk rock outfit The Menzingers along with them for the ride.
The Wil Wagner-led Smith Street Band have had a mega year, playing shows all over the globe, joining the line-ups of Big Day Out, Falls Festival and Meredith, and releasing a new EP, Don’t Fuck With Our Dreams. They’ve handpicked The Menzingers to share the stage with them for this tour, making this the third trip Down Under for the Americans, having previously played Soundwave 2012 and supporting Pennywise on their 2013 tour.
The Menzingers frontman Greg Barnett is stoked to be heading back to our shores, describing The Smith Street Band as “fucking awesome”. “Australia’s the best, seriously! We’re really excited to play some cool club shows and I’m also really excited to go to Tasmania for the first time.”
And as an added bonus, all shows will be opened by Perth pop punkers and Poison City Records signees Grim Fandango. Tickets for all shows go on sale from Monday, 16th December via The Smith Street Band’s official website.
