The Smith Street Band have shared made their love for fellow Aussie band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, taking to social media to talk about them.
They tweeted lyrics to King Gizzard’s ‘Rattlesnake’ before writing some very nice words about the band who are currently killing it on the overseas festival circuit.
“Watching King Gizzard blow up makes me so happy,” they wrote.
“They’re so unique, so DIY and just wanna make their weird beautiful art without bullshit.”
They went on to say that they’re pleased that there’s, “still room for bands who just wanna make music and play it live in this cluttered clusterfuck of an industry.”
While The Smith Street Band haven’t been announced for a triple j ‘Like A Version’ just yet, it sounds like they’ve got one coming up because they’re already planning what they’re going to cover.
“I hope Triple J let us play Rattlesnake for like a version cause that would be so goddam fun,” they concluded.
Last time they covered a song for ‘Like A Version’ they took the opportunity to cover another Aussie artist, Courtney Barnett.
Both The Smith Street Band and King Gizzard have had great years. The former released their fourth album More Scared of You Than You Are of Me to rave reviews and the latter have just released their second record for the year Murder of the Universe.

A lot of bands could take a leaf out of their book. Stop worrying about scene politics and trends. Make good shit and go on tour. It works.
