Big news for fans of The Strokes (ie. everyone) – the band have finally confirmed that their new album is finally recorded and in the mixing process.
In a new interview with New York’s Q 104.3 radio station, via Consequence Of Sound, guitarist Nick Valensi kinda sorta let slip that the album was finished – but in a way that wouldn’t get him in trouble with management. Smart.
Host Jonathan Clarke told Valensi that he “heard that the new Strokes album is finished and that you are mixing.” Valensi responded saying, “Wow you heard that? Who told you that?”
When Clarke said a “fairly reliable” source let him in on the info, Valensi said “well it must be true.”
Clarke then asked Valensi “when and if” the album would see the light of day. Valensi responded saying “when, I don’t know.”
“If — I would say, it’s a strong likelihood.”
The Strokes haven’t released a full-length LP since 2013’s Comedown Machine, but they did release an EP in 2016 titled Future Present Past.
