If you had a bad case of the green-eyed monsters after finding out that The Tea Party were set to play an exclusive show with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra next year, you can now put that grumbly guy to bed once and for all, because the band have just announced that they will be dropping by Sydney, too, for a show with the Sydney Youth Orchestras.
This majestic performance, following on from their recent visit late last year, will take place on Friday, 21st April 2017 at the Star Event Centre.
The orchestral performance will see The Tea Party’s epic hits spectacularly arranged for orchestra, as well the incorporation of Middle Eastern instruments, which the band are known for using frequently in their songs. This tour will feature instruments like the oud, sitar, qanoun, hurdy gurdy, theremin, rabob, and tabla.
Amazingly, this will be The Tea Party’s 16th tour of Australia, with their first ever visit back in ’93.
Jeff Burrows, the bands’ drummer, says:
“Seeing the response from our Australian fans when we announced the Melbourne show, I think we all knew that we couldn’t stop at just one performance. Having the opportunity to play with both the SYO and MSO is such an honour. This is one of the coolest things we’ve ever been able to do as a band.
“Knowing that we haven’t done a show of this magnitude since 2002, bringing this to our Australian fans is the most rewarding feeling we could ask for. To have a chance to play these songs with such a powerful orchestra behind us, honestly, gives us all goose bumps.”
And for all you die-hard fans out there, you can even purchase a meet & greet VIP package. Tickets go on sale Thursday, 15th December 2016. Full deets below.
