The Vines released their fifth album Future Primitive less than 2 months ago, but they’re already looking at a follow-up release by the end of the year, or possibly the beginning of next year.
Frontman Craig Nicholls was recently talking about a curious album of ‘home demos’ that would end up as a fast follow-up to Future Primitive. He originally had 139 songs on his digital 8-track, but has managed to whittle it down to 15 tracks for a new album.
We caught up with Nicholls at Splendour in the Grass, to try and gather some more information on where it was all up to.
We’ve already started making our next album and I’m doing vocals on Tuesday, so we’ve recorded all the instruments … then we may record some more so we don’t know … it will either come out late this year or early next year.
Despite the haste of recording the new album, he says a name hasn’t been chosen yet, “that’s the crucial thing – getting the name right so we’re going to wait for a bit, and make sure we’re happy.
