There’s A Petition To Turn Double J Into A 24/7 Lewis McKirdy Station

Yesterday’s announcement that Lewis McKirdy and some other triple j faves will be joining Matt & Alex in leaving the station at the end of 2016 caught many off-guard, but it seems the impending departure of the beloved Lunch presenter hit Brisbane band FeelsClub right in their, well, feels.

It’s hit so hard that the group have started a Change.org petition to have triple j‘s digital sister station Double J transformed into a 24/7 Lewis McKirdy station.

To clarify, FeelsClub aren’t calling on Double J to bring McKirdy on to work around the clock, but to instead ditch their own daily content in favour of playing the greatest moments from every McKirdy segment from the last 10 years, while also providing fresh new content from the man himself.

“It’s for the good of the nation! He was the only man who knew whathat was up! He had legends every Friday throw down on the platters that matter, he has classic banter, he just gets the common man,” the band say.

“Any way I say we ditch DoubleJ and just play the greatest moments of the last 10 years of Triple J (every Lewi segment) plus great new content from the Old Boy of the Beug everyday!”

At time of writing, the petition has only 71 signatures, but it has already gained support from Lewis himself, who’s retweeted the petition.

Get around it here, and remember the future of the nation’s banter is at stake.
