These Acts Probably Won’t Be Playing Splendour In The Grass 2015

Splendour In The Grass 2015 is still five months away, but a number of big-name acts have already been pretty much ruled out of the festival thanks to their super-busy tour schedules.

English singer-songwriter Laura Marling, indie rockers Bombay Bicycle Club, alt-folk outfit Bear’s Den and home-grown talents Angus & Julia Stone look unlikely for Splendour 2015 appearances, as they’ll be performing at the UK’s Somersault Festival over the same July weekend which Splendour is being held this year, as FasterLouder point out.

Elsewhere in Europe, Laneway Festival alumni Jungle, South London rapper Kate Tempest and English musos Maricka Hackman and Jack Garratt will all be performing at England’s The Secret Garden Party when Splendour is kicking off. Spain’s Low Festival will also see sets from The Libertines, The Growlers, Kasabian, The Drums and The Ravonettes in July, making appearances from those bands pretty unlikely.

Other notable exclusions from this year’s Splendour lineup will likely include English folk stalwart Billy Bragg, who will be performing at North Yorkshire’s Deer Shed Festival in July, and fellow Britain Ghostpoet, who’s set to play Tramlines 2015 in Sheffield. James Vincent McMorrow has also locked in a slot on Germany’s Stuttgart Festival.

Canada’s WayHome Festival, which runs on the same weekend as Splendour, had already nabbed acts such as Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Modest Mouse, St Vincent, The Decemberists, Passion Pit, Hozier, Fucked Up, Girl Talk, Run the Jewels and Vance Joy, making any Splendour appearances from those artists unlikely, if not impossible.

It’s not all bad news, though. Uptown Funk creator Mark Ronson has said he wants to come back to Australia, possibly for Splendour.

Other potential candidates include acts from Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, which has just added a bunch more names to its 2015 lineup.

UK musician Rosie Lowe also teased her possible involvement in the festival earlier this month.

Splendour 2015 will take place over three days, from Friday, 24th July to Sunday, 26th July. View a list of which acts are unlikely to play Splendour In The Grass 2015, below.
