21-year-old Chicago MC Chance The Rapper has officially bested 38-year-old fellow rapper 50 Cent by successfully pitching a baseball during a game on Friday night just days after Fiddy threw what’s being called the “worst pitch ever”.
On the night of 30th May at a match between the Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres at Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field, Chance took the plate and delivered a pretty standard but noticeably on-point pitch. Footage of the pitch (below) shows Chance not taking the throw too seriously, and following it up with a fist pump.
50 Cent’s poor-pitch excuse was, “I’m a hustler not a damn ball player.” But it seems like Chance won’t be having to fend off any internet ridicule or hurtful memes, only and onslaught of well-deserved high-fives.
Chance, being a ’90s kid, gifted the crowd at Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington with a cover of the theme song from the children’s cartoon show Arthur, a moralistic program which followed the adventures of 8-year-old aardvark Arthur Read.
The original Arthur theme song was recorded by Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, but Chance’s version added crashing cymbals and some “every day it could be wonderful” crowd-chanting into the mix of funk and reggae tones. And, of course, there was the line to beat all lines, “And I say hey (hey!). What a wonderful kind of day. To learn to work and play. And get along with each other.” Watch the footage below.
