LCD Soundsystem have gone up against Red Hot Chili Peppers in a festival clash of the titans during Scotland’s T At The Park festival over the weekend. Alas, James Murphy and gang came off second best against the funk rockers, with photographic evidence suggesting it was a very, very distant second.
As Consequence Of Sound reports, while the Chili Willies took to the festival’s main stage to an absolute ocean of fans, things were a little more low-key over at LCD Soundsystem’s set. The turnout was so poor, in fact, that you could count those in attendance by eye. A number, which comes closer to the 10’s than the 100’s or even 1000’s.
It’s fairly concerning given that LCD Soundsystem were deemed worthy to headline Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo — basically the world’s biggest festivals — only to be trumped by a band which, to some, has become a kind of parody of itself.
True to form, LCD Soundsystem were reportedly undeterred by the diminishing crowd, though we’re sure some hard words were said to management and promoters afterwards. Although, maybe LCD should be thankful that they weren’t forced to signed a whole heap of Metallica merch.
