Three People Injured After Truck Rolled Into Their Campsite At Rainbow Serpent Festival

Three people were hospitalised last night at this year’s Rainbow Serpent festival, after a truck rolled into a campsite.

As reported by The Herald Sun, an unmanned truck somehow rolled up to 20m and smashed into a campsite, injuring a 39-year-old man and two women, aged 30 and 27.

The two women were taken to Ballarat Base hospital in stable conditions, only sustaining non-life threatening injuries, while the man was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.

The organisers of the event say they have no idea how this could’ve happened, but WorkSafe has been notified and Victoria Police are currently investigating the circumstances.

Speaking to The Herald Sun, festival spokesperson Tim Harvey said the thoughts of the entire workforce behind the festival are with the victims.

“Our thoughts are with the injured and their families,” he said.

“We know the entire Rainbow community will be thinking of them all weekend but it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this stage.”

This is not the first vehicle-related incident to be associated with Rainbow Serpent festival this year. Earlier this week, a 19-year-old woman died after travelling in a car – that was reportedly believed to be heading to the festival – after it hit a barrier and rolled several times.
